MARY COOPER: Sheldon Cooper's southern momma. She is amazingly portrayed by Laurie Metcalfe on the show. She has Desert Rose china in her kitchen, her trailer is supported by cinder blocks, she calls Sheldon "Shelly" and she is forever traveling the Bible belt and wanting Sheldon to join her. To her, LA is like sin city, but when she visits Sheldon, she makes the best fried chicken ever. When Sheldon is particularly impossible, sometimes, she must be called...

"He is my son. I've seen him at his best, I've seen him at his worst, (and) You shoulda called me sooner!"

The Hug

PROFESSOR PROTON: A FICTIONAL TV CHARACTER PLAYED BY BOB NEWHART. SHELDON HAD A VISIT FROM HIM AT THE APARTMENT, WHERE HE LOVINGLY TOOK OUT HIS PROFESSOR PROTON PUPPET AND DID HIS BEST IMPRESSION (SHELDON DID, THAT IS). PROFESSOR PROTON HAD A HEART ATTACK AND WAS RUSHED TO THE HOSPITAL. SHELDON RODE WITH HIM IN THE AMBULANCE, AND SUNG HIM "Soft Kitty" AT THE HOSPITAL. PROFESSOR WAS NOT TOO THRILLED, BUT THIS MADE SHELDON's DAY! SHELDON SAID: "This kinda makes you like my dad, then.". THE WORN OUT ACTOR GAVE IN AND LET SHELDON HAVE HIS WISH. FOR SHELDON, TO THINK OF HIS TV HERO AS HIS DAD WAS EXTASY. ON LAST WEEK's EPISODE OF BBT, PROFESSOR PROTON PASSED AWAY. LEONARD, PENNY AND AMY WENT TO HIS FUNERAL, WHILE SHELDON STAYED HOME, NOT SEEING ANY LOGICAL REASON TO CRY OVER HIS FRIEND. STAR WARS MARATHON!!! So,THAT's what HE, RAJ, HOWARD AND BERNADETTE DO...ALL DAY. LEONARD, AMY AND PENNY COME HOME AND SHELDON FALLS ASLEEP ON HIS BED...

HE HAS A DREAM, AND IN HIS DREAM, HIS TV HERO COMES TO HIM IN THE WOODS, DRESSED IN STAR WARS GARB, TO GIVE SHELDON SOME LIFE WISDOM AND SOME HELP DEALING WITH HIS DEATH. SHELDON WAKES UP TO LEONARD KNOCKING ON HIS DOOR. SPONTANEOUS TALK...THE FUNERAL's OVER, THAT SORTA THING. SHELDON REACHES OUT & GIVES LEONARD A HUG. NO WORDS...JUST A HUG. (AWWWWWWWWW) :)


*I HOPE THAT PROFESSOR PROTON WILL BE BACK ON THE SHOW IN SHELDON's OTHER DREAMS, TO GIVE OTHER PIECES OF WIDOM AND/OR ADVICE, SO THAT BOB NEWHART CAN KEEP PLAYING THE PART! :)
